We've lived in the apartment for almost two years. The landlady is wonderful; the apartment suits us. The school isn't exactly nearby, but it's two bus stops away or about a 20-minute walk. Max is in the second grade, and we are moving to another city. Today the landlady called: they are considering expanding and want to put the apartment up for sale. They’ve already found what they need, and their deadline is June 1. That means they need to sell our apartment and buy another. The probability that the new owners will let us stay here until the end of May is basically zero. So should we start looking for a new place now and move out by the end of March/April, or hope for a miracle? I am in the city alone with my son. All rental listings in the area are mostly long-term. What should I do? I don’t understand. Our contract with her runs until May 1. In principle they’ve indicated that their timeline is a little more than a month.
